In 2006, Rev. Dr. Mina Palomo was convicted by the fact that LGI was running a Bible training center for church leaders for 3 years but had no project for the poor. Praying with Ms. Ofel Gegantoni, the Lord showed Ofel a vision of the word “kawanggawa.” Thus the Project Hope (PH) was launched, funded by the Metrobank Foundation in 2007 through the networking efforts of the late Atty. Carmel Perfecto.
Project Hope became LGI’s evangelistic and social responsibility program for the underprivileged. It developed a “Total Person” curriculum that addressed the basic needs of the spirit, soul, and body. Lessons included fundamental doctrines on God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, as well as basic skills in housekeeping, child care for yayas, help and bedside care for the bantays, with personality enhancement skills in grooming for ladies.
